SONAR BOREALIS
By Elyne Legarnisson and Kat Kowalczuk
DOCUMENTARY
Let us set the scene for you.
We are in Southbank, highly cultural and touristic area of London. Locals and tourists are walking along the river.
Suddenly, they perceive an unusual imposimg black box. Intrigued, they head for the entrance.
Once inside, they discover a surreal world of lights. By observing more closely, they realize that the space responds to their sounds. One starts clapping, while a kid is yelling at the opposite corner. A young man is singing shyly. Those sounds created by people whom never met before, but belong to the same space at that moment, are unified in real-time, to design a unique ephemeral space.
Other onlookers are seating on the benches around the installation, observing, commenting, enjoying.
